  • In April 1990 the project of founding a new high school was created. The main idea had come from the Civil Comitee of Dąbrowa Górnicza.
  • The first entrance examination to 5th High School took place in May 1990. Only 52 students out of 250 applicants were accepted – they had gained the highest scores during the tests . Four classes were created: two of form one, one of form two and one of form three.
  • On the 1st of September 1990 the first inauguration of the school year was held in the first building of our school – the one which was located on 1 Wybickiego Street in Gołonóg (district of Dąbrowa Górnicza), in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The post of the head teacher was accepted by Mrs Danuta Micur.
  • The fact worth mentioning is our partnership with many schools abroad, for example Albert Einstein Schule in Gross – Bieberau, Germany. We also take part in Socrates Comenius, the international  students’ exchange project  – the teacher responsible for it is Mrs Ewa Kijowska – Kita, who teaches French.
  • What is more, we are a part of Youth For Understanding society which organizes one-year long exchanges for students. Joining this has enabled our students to spend a year in the USA, Germany or Finland, studying and getting used to the language customs of their host country.
  • In 1991 the school was moved to a new building, situated at 17 Dąbskiego Street. In the new place the first matura exam took place and the majority of our students passed it with flying colours.  85 % of the graduates were accepted into universities.
  • In the school year of 1992/1993 the young journalists set up the school newspaper called “Kompozycja 634”. The title was inspired by the number of the bus which had just come to the bus stop when the future editors were wondering how to call their project. The teachers who took care of “Kompozycja 634” were Mrs Agnieszka Gajda and Mrs Anna Adamuszek.
  • In 1993 the the school acquired a new head teacher. At first, from March to May this responsibility was taken by Mr Wojciech Horosz, then – from June 1993 to January 1994 – by Mrs Janina Karoń.
  • Since 1994, our famous brothers – Mr Włodzimierz Dulias, who teaches PE and Mr Tadeusz Dulias, who teaches Geography – have organized the workshops focusing on ecology and tourism. The workshops take place every year in Smoleń and last five days.
  • In 1995 the 5th High was invited to take part in a game show on TV which was called “Lala”. Our school’s representatives won the show beating the teams of two other schools from Dąbrowa Górnicza: the School of Arts and Szenwald High School.
  • Another change at the post of the head teacher followed a year later. The new head teacher was Mrs Ewa Król, who resigned from this post in 2001.
  • In 1997 Dulias brothers came up with an idea of Star Hike as a form of student integration and celebrating of the Ecology Day. From then on the Hike has been held every year. And every year, at the end of the Hike, when we all meet by the fire, we prepare our dinner and watch the ceremony of the freshers’ haze.
  • Two years later, in 1999 a legal agreement was signed by the representives of our school and three universities in Poland: Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza, Politechnika Krakowska and Politechnika Śląska. According to this agreement, graduates from our school did not have to take the entrance examinations to those universities.
  • In November 1999 two teachers from our school – Mrs Katarzyna Wywiał and Mr Paweł Kęmpiński – had a private meeting with the pope John Paul the II, during which they were talking about the problems of the disabled and about our school as a kind of integrative facility which helps the disabled to get into the society.
  • Since 1999 our school has also been involved in the organization of the Silesian Olympic Games for the Disabled. Then we also started to take part in hiking races.
  • Our school had almost everything. Everything but the patron. That is why on the 7th of April 2000 we received the name of Jan Zamoyski, who had been one of the greatest figures of Polish politics and education. Since then we’ve been known as Zamoyski High School. The special guest of the ceremony was the descendant of Jan Zamoyski – Marcin Zamoyski.
  • The 2000/2001 school year was the first we spent in our new third building, situated on Czapińskiego Street. In addition to this, the classes were created with the subject extensions: managerial, humanistic, eco-tourist, maths-IT, language,  suitable for the student’s needs and views on the future.
  • In November 2000 the students of our school set off for a pilgrimage to Lurdes in France. The trip was led by Mrs Ewa Król, Mr Paweł Kępińskie and Mr Czesław Pietrasiński. On our was to Lurdes we  also saw Monaco, Venice, Monte-Carlo and Paris.
  • On the 28th of April 1991 the 10th anniversary of the foundation of our school was celebrated. It was followed by another change on the post of the head teacher – the new one was Mrs Janina Karoń, for the second time.
  • In 2002 the head teachers changed once again. This time the post was accepted by Mrs Anna Ornat, who teaches Italian an French. Since then there has been no change in the post of the head teacher.
  • In March 2003 the students of Zamoyski High set off for a trip to India, which was led by Mr W. Dulias and Mrs M. Etinger – Michalik. The trip lasted 6 weeks and the distance of it was more than 10 000 km.
  • In 2003 the first group of disabled students took the matura exam in our school and they passed it with flying colours – two of them were accepted into universities.
  • The school year of 2003/2004 was the year of modernization in our school. Our students started learning Latin and Italian and special groups were created in order to enable the students to integrate when learning foreign languages. What is more, a special class was created for the disabled students to make it possible for them to integrate with the society. The form teacher of this class was Mr Krzysztof Kowalski who teaches history. We had also grown bigger – the school had 570 students and 53 teachers.
  • In the school year 2004/2005 Zamoyski High School was rewarded with a very prestigious award – The Silesian Certificate of Quality.
  • During the school year of 2005/2006 a trip was organized to the Tomb of the pope John Paul the II. Over 60 students took part in it. In the meantime, the project of inviting interesting people to our school was created. The first guests were Małgorzata Handzlik, Donad Tusk and Marek Borowski – famous Polish politicians.
  • In the following year we had other important guests – Mirosław Orzechowski , the vice –Minister of Education, Tadeusz Isakowicz – Zaleski – the priest who had written a book about the role of the Church  during the period of communism in Polish history.
  • On the 29th of March 2007 the school was presented with a banner – we gained our own sign to be proud of and responsible for.
  • In 2007 the school was modernized again, this time on the technical side. The reading room was equipped with computers and the gym was redecorated. In April 2008 a lift for the disabled students of our school was built as the sign of breaking the last barrier between the members of the school community.
  • A year later, in 2009, the first bilingual class was created in Zamoyski High. Joining this class enables you to learn subjects like Chemistry or Political Science in English. Our teachers are professionally trained to hold such courses and teach using a foreign language.
  • In March 2010 we celebrated the 20th birthday of our school. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Zamoyski High took place on the 19th of March.
  • Our school has always been famous for the high level of teaching foreign language but our students are also well-educated in many other ways when they leave school. Zamoyski High School is a good choice.
