School Integration PDF Print E-mail

Our school is an integration type one. The physically handicapped students have been taking part in educational activities since 1999. They gain knowledge and abilities needed in daily life through contacts with their contemporaries. The school is entirely adjusted to the necessities of handicapped students.

The first handicapped students, who had passed the Matura in our school exam, graduated from universities such as the Silesian University in Katowice or  „Ignatianum” -  the Pedagogical University in Kraków.

For last 10 years the school has been  co-organizing the International Forum of Handicapped People, within the framework of it the Athletic Meetings for Handicapped of Silesia And Zagłębie District is organized.

The Athletic Meetings for Handicapped has its permanent place in the calendar of events organized in our town thanks to our school and the Catholic Youth Association of Sosnowiec Diocese. The Town Council of Dąbrowa Górnicza is strongly supporting this idea.

The Athletic Meetings for Handicapped Genesis
In 2000 we organized the Children Jubilee, in cooperation with the Catholic Youth Association. The handicapped people we invited for that meeting but unfortunately they weren’t recognized among all other participants. The organizers decided to initiate the meetings and events for handicapped young people and their contemporaries and to start with the following year. That was the beginning of the Athletic Meetings idea. Every year more and more competitors is taking part in that event. In 2006 the participation was exceptionally high. The handicapped competitors from not only Silesia  but also Malopolska district came to join the Athletic Meeting. As soon as the problems of handicapped people and the barriers, which do not allowed them to life normal life  were recognized, the International Forum of Handicapped People was established. The main goal of that organization is to answer the question what to do to let handicapped fulfill their dreams and follow the life path they like.

The trip to Rome
In November 1999 the students and teachers of our school went to Rome. The crucial point  of the trip was the private meeting with the Pope John Paul II, who greeted pilgrims and gave the blessing to our students. The trip was organized thanks to the support of the bishop Adam Śmigielski, the Ordinary of Sosnowiec Diocese.

The crucial point  of the trip was the meeting with the Pope Benedict XVI, who greeted the whole community of our school. During that trip we also visited Venice, Monte Casino and Assisi.

The trip to Lourdes
In 2000 we went to Lourdes in France. We visited Italy and Germany, we stopped in Paris and the students were impressed by its charm. The trip was organized by  the Catholic Youth Association of Sosnowiec Diocese.
